A [few] weeks worth of odds & ends

the most beautiful magnolia tree in Georgetown
whites, yellows & a whole lot of green from a walk around our little town
first hot dogs from Carousel (a summer favorite of ours)
gorgeous fruit at Whole Foods
a quiet walk through DC in search of Pitango's gelato (the BEST!!)
our neighbor's horses two of which had babies
a dreamy scene off the dirt road to our house

We're gearing up for a super busy month in a few weeks so we are really savoring our time at home. We cooked and cleaned all day yesterday and it felt so good to cuddle under clean sheets and the scent of candles that had been burning for hours. Sleep has been hard to come by around these parts lately but we think we're slowly getting somewhere. Turns out Birdie decided she was done being swaddled so now she sleeps like a big girl, hands out and all. It seems to have helped as she's sleeping for slightly longer stretches now. I tell you though that girl really is growing up way TOO fast. I told husby the other day that for a while there I felt like I was living with a baby. You know newborns, they don't do, things are done to them. Now however, I really feel like I'm living with a little person. A little person that likes to sing, her red tin cup and peek-a-boo and who follows me with her eyes all around the house. It's such a wonderful change. And in all of this it's easy to see that we're all getting oh so very attached to each other. We're all being knitted together tighter and tighter. It's the three of us now, not two and a baby.
What baby?! :)

P.S. I decided to put up a bunch of the stuff from my big closet clean out on Poshmark. Here's link in case you're interested!

  3. Ah, I love Carousel :). I went to school in Fauquier county and spent many a high school afternoon walking over to grab a Waterloo. Make sure you check out BJ's books nearby--it's an awesome used book store where you can buy, sell, or trade. Also, Red Truck Bakery is up the street and has been featured in the NY Times, Oprah's magazine, and most recently NPR's "The Splendid Table".
