Finally I'm sharing a little peek into our house, namely our living room. Since we've been living here for over two years we've made some changes and updates over time and my style has changed too since we first moved in. We spent a lot of time this past weekend rearranging a lot of the artwork in our house and it was a much needed facelift for all the rooms.
But back to our living room. My favorite part is definitely our built in bookshelves and the books that we've collected since we've been together. It's funny because when I look at them memories of all these tiny little used bookstores flood my mind. There was a place in Long Beach that we loved, a shop we frequent during our yearly road trip to Chincoteague Island, Capitol Hill books in DC that is quite literally exploding at the beams, dozens of musky basement stores next to thrift stores and our personal favorite - a two story warehouse in MD. Used books are kind of our weakness.
I also love our record player that we inherited from my in-laws and the records we've collected. The $80 sofa we found at Goodwill. My vintage typewriter (that actually works!) and all those pillows (I am a recovering throw pillow addict).
I would say that the general style of the room is - "Target meets Goodwill" since those are essentially the two places where most of the items came from. I'm not a big fan of spending a lot of money on home decor, mostly because I'm so fickle and odds are I will change my mind soon so what's the point in spending hundreds of dollars on something that I'm going to get rid of in a few years? Perhaps this is a bad habit and maybe sometime in the future I will commit to a style but right now changing things around is way too fun!!
