This was the month that Birdie has really started to branch out with her musical tastes. She's more or less on board with male vocalists (yay!!) and she's even appreciated some country songs, much to her mama's joy!
Birdie had a rough night last night due to the nasty cold she's been fighting since monday and as usual the only thing that could soothe her was music. We put on Beach House and she instantly relaxed. I had to smile as we went back to bed when I remembered that my dad has that album along with several others of her favorites on his iphone since they watch Birdie often for us. I thought about what a strange little collection he has - mostly 80's love songs, his "rainforest" sounds for falling asleep to, classic music and Beach House...

Paper Airplane - Alison Krauss & Union Station
Golden Wake - Mutual Benefit
PrimeTime - Janelle Monae
Homecoming Heroes - The Head And The Heart
Relatively Easy - Jason Isbell
Take A Back Road - Rodney Atkins
Thru the Field - Memory Tapes
Story Of My Life - One Direction
Saw You First - Givers
Weight - Mikal Cronin
Follow Your Arrow - Kacey Musgraves
Timber - Pitbull/Ke$ha (she LOVES Pitbull, somebody help me...)

Thank you guys so much for chiming in with some recommendations last time! I would love to hear what you're listening to right now!

  1. Hmmm...I'll have to try some of those. :) James has been responding to Matisyahu's "one day" lately. And he'll sing along with pearl jam anything but especially Eddie vetter's "rise". Thanks for the fun playlist!

  3. Not the most cerebral of tunes, but my daughter positively lights up for Daft Punk/Pharrell's "Get lucky" (and my 9yo interprets that to mean they're winning big in a casino all night...smh)

  4. Love this list. We were lucky enough to see Beach House in concert a few years back.
